What we believe about play
Play is the work of childhood.
Jean Piaget said it first, and decades of developmental research have confirmed it. Free, unstructured, hands-on play is how children build cognitive, social, and emotional skills. It is not a break from learning — it is the primary vehicle for it.

Why we focus on screen-free play
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends avoiding screen media for children under 18–24 months (except video chatting) and limiting screen time to one hour per day for children 2–5. The research behind these guidelines is robust.
But the concern is not screens themselves — it is what screens displace. Every hour in front of a screen is an hour not spent in hands-on exploration, physical movement, face-to-face social interaction, and the kind of open-ended play that builds the skills children need most.
We focus on screen-free toys because we focus on protecting that time — not because we think technology is bad, but because we know what children lose when it crowds out play.
